Rituals - Morning + Evening
Rituals may be prescribed by the traditions of a community, including a religious community. Rituals are characterized by formalism, traditionalism, invariance, rule-governance, sacral symbolism and performance.
Rituals are a feature of all known human societies. They include not only worship rights and sacraments of organized religions and cults, but also rites of passage, atonement and purification rites, oaths of allegiance, dedication ceremonies, coronations and Presidential inaugurations, marriages and funerals, school “rush” traditions and graduations, club meetings, sporting events, Halloween parties, veterans parades, Christmas shopping, and more.
Even common actions like hand-shaking and saying hello may be termed as rituals.
Morning Ritual
Anything that you do every day with awareness becomes a ritual. It can be anything from writing in your Book of Shadows as soon as you wake up, to heading for a nice refreshing shower first thing, to enjoying a morning cup of coffee. Write down your dreams, pull a Tarot card to start your day, or even make a list of things you’d like to accomplish. You may only need a few moments to turn your mundane mornings into a magical experience for yourself.
Evening Ritual
Reflect on your day, contemplate what you have experienced. Unwind in a magical way by lighting a candle to meditate, using a diffuser to spread some calming essential oils (like lavender) to help you sleep, put something under your pillow. Write anything that comes to mind in your Book of Shadows. What would you like to experience in your dreams? Everything is up to you.
