Grounding

An exercise that is used to clear and release excess energy, as well as to renew the energies within oneself and clear out the old. Traditionally done by envisioning roots stretching out from oneself and into the ground, like a tree, and connecting through them to the Earth. However, it can be done with simple visualization and does not need to include nature, as long as the cycling of energy is completed.
Can be a focused ritual, it can be a simple few movements, there are a variety of ways to ground besides the ones I will list. It can be done in almost any way that cycles new energy in and old energy out.
Bellow are a few methods you might like to try. I like these methods best.

Fire: do with a candle lit or around a fire, please exercise fire safety when using this method. Put out the flame when you are done. The energy is now inside you.

Coffee: iced or hot. (or tea.)  Rince the cup or dispose of it when you are done, the energy is now inside you.

Moon: do during the moon phase that has energies you wish to draw into yourself. When you are ready, let the ties to the moon fade away. Don’t sever them.

Sun: I have always used the Sun to ground myself even before I knew what grounding was. Summer is a time when I really feel alive. When I really feel like myself. Up here in Canada, the days are longer and I seem to get more done.

I also like to meditate (and occasionally ground myself) when I’m colouring or taking a bath. Usually if I light a candle while I'm doing anything it helps me a lot. Anything works.

FIRE
the way the fire crackles and burns away at the wood or wick, the negative and stagnant energy burns away from you. it turns to smoke and dissipates into the air.
the inside of you is dark and empty. there are only ashes left behind, pure and still.
each spark and flame fills you with new energy. the flames, their brightness and warmth replenishes and re-energizes you.
from the ashes, a new flame s kindled within you, and it lives within your chest.

COFFEE
hot: the heat of the drink is warm to the touch. as you drink it, it first burns away the old stagnant, tired energy that lurks within you.
it swirls down into your stomach before the bright energy finds its way into each of your limbs and up your neck. its warmth is subtle and lingers on in you, transforming into brighter energy.

iced: the outside of the drink is cool to tough, you can feel its soothing energy trying to come in through your hands.
every sip, the coldness spreads throughout you and settles. every sip invigorates and resurrects you a little more, focusing and attuning your energy.

MOON
every flicker of light over your skin fills you and becomes tangible within you. it solidifies in your spirit and makes you feel whole.
you are becoming your own moon. you feel the Earth's gravity pulling your negative energy away from you. push your old energies out.
the light that washes over you brings new, fresh energy. it illuminates you from the inside out.

SUN
hold your palms up. see a ray of golden sunlight shining on you. concentrate on the light. concentrate on emotions being felt and physical sensations. feel or imagine its warmth on your skin.
take a deep breath, as you do, see the sunlight filling you. take more deep breaths, until you are filled with sunlight.
place your palms over your heart. see the golden sunlight mix inside you and see them circulate through your being.
